We are twinned with the Methodist Circuit in Matjinge, Zimbabwe, where Rev Dr Richman Ncube was educated.
Here is a short video of the celebrations for a new water system that we funded: https://vimeo.com/974274471
Rev Ncube visited the school in August and was introduced to current students. He was inspired by their stories and achievements.
The school has sent these letters of thanks.

Next we helped to install a fence around the manse so that food can be irrigated and grown, protected from hungry goats!
Most recently we have funded a satellite internet connection and six laptop computers, adding to the three they already had.

A Songs of Praise event organised by the Hunstanton Churches Together group was held on the Green. Hymns and songs, chosen by the five churches, were accompanied by the Snettisham Salvation Army Band.
The weather was lovely. Many holiday-makers joined local people to sing along with well-known hymns, interspersed with brief readings from the Bible, prayers and short talks. It was a very pleasant and well attended afternoon.
The group holds joint Faith Lunches, which take place once every three months in one of the churches. We will host one on the 11th October and other joint events are being planned for Christmas.

Lent 2024
Ecumenical engagement
We joined with the Union Church and The Way, with support from members of the Roman Catholic Church, for six Lent Lunchtime talks, alternating between HMC and Union Church. Speakers from three participating denominations talked about their personal view of Lent and how they responded to it. Their different perspectives were all interesting and thought provoking. A soup lunch continued the fellowship.
On Good Friday morning, a good number of us joined in a walk of witness, carrying a Cross through the town. Starting with a hymn, prayer and reading in the grounds of St Edmund’s Church, we processed to the High Street, stopping to read on the steps of the old bank, before proceeding to the Spinney where we held a short service with readings, prayers and hymns. Afterwards we gathered in the Union Church for a welcome warming drink.
At 3 pm, a good number met again in our church for a reflection and meditation, led by Sheila Johnson.
On Easter Sunday, at 7.30 am, there was a well attended Son Rise service on the Green, followed by breakfast at The Way.
Our Cafe Church service on 28th April involved people from the Union Church and emphasised the fact that the Church is the people, not the buildings we worship in. We will be doing more with other denominations in Hunstanton throughout the year.

Sing for Zimbabwe – June 18th 2022

Many church members and visitors from far afield enjoyed a wonderful weekend in June, when they met friends from Zimbabwe. The event was organised by Rosemary and Hugh Rayner, who were entertaining two young Zimbabweans, Charlegne and Taku, students at the University of Edinburgh.
The Saturday started with a lunch, made possible by generous contributions of food from many of the partakers. There was a mix of dishes from different countries and some of us experienced interesting tastes that were new to our palates.

We moved into the church to watch a Christian Aid video of the life of Janet Zirugo, showing how she farms and cares for her land in the dry climate. It gave us an insight into the hard life she copes with under such harsh circumstances.
The film was followed by an afternoon of music presented by local singers and instrumentalists, interspersed with hymns sung by a Gospel Choir from Norwich, whose voices filled the building with their uninhibited singing and rhythmic vitality.
The following day, our minister Rev Dr Richman Ncube took the service, which included Charlegne speaking about her studies of the effects of climate change, and Zimbabwean hymns sung by the Ncube family.
Donations made to Christian Aid during the two days amounted to over £600.
